I am someone who thrives on competition. If I can make a game or challenge out of something, I probably will. I have so many books on my TBR that I would like to read this month, and I thought it could be fun to do a “7 Books in 7 Days” Challenge. I would never have time to do something like this during the school year, so I thought, “Why not!?”
The only rule I am making for myself is that it must be a book I either physically own or have an ARC for on Netgalley. I will post how I did (hopefully I am successful) at the end of the challenge, along with reviews on what I thought of all the books!
Here is my TBR for the week of June 10-16.
The House Across the Lake

This book will likely determine whether or not I continue to pick up Riley Sager’s books…but no pressure or anything. I have read four Riley Sager books in the past, and while I gave them all three or four stars, the four stars are really the only ones that sat right with me. I really think his endings are just not my cup of tea, but I wanted to give him one last chance before I move on.
The First to Die at the End

I have owned this since it was first released, but I was too scared to pick it up. The OG book broke me in so many ways, and I hope (but also don’t hope?) that this book does the same.
The Break-Up Pact

The Breakup Pact is a book I have on my upcoming ARCs list. I have only read one Emma Lord book, Tweet Cute, in the past, but I remember really enjoying it. Even if I don’t enjoy this one, I know I can still recommend it to some of my high school students, and that always makes it worth it for me.
Thank You, Next

This is a newer addition to my Netgalley ARCs. It’s set to be released on June 30th, so I would like to finish it sooner rather than later. I have been trying to be better about publishing reviews before the book’s release! I requested this one because I have been in a crazy specific mood for reality TV romances. This will be my third one for the year!
Gone for Good

Gone for Good is a thriller on my Netgalley backlist. I typically read thrillers pretty quickly, especially if I’m interested in the story, so I thought it would be a great addition to this challenge. It also helps me knock out a couple of personal reading challenges for me, so it’s an added bonus!
are you listening?

I didn’t want to pressure myself into reading seven full-length novels (although, I guess I got pretty close, lol), so I added a graphic novel to my list. are you listening? is also on my June Pride Month TBR, which is why I chose this graphic novel for this challenge. I took a mini break from graphic novels after reading seven for this post, and who even knows how many for my thesis I wrote last year. I am excited to read this one, but I know it involves some heavy topics, so I’m nervous, too.
Each of Us a Desert

Am I technically cheating with this one? Kind of. Each of Us a Desert is a backlist title that has been on my Netgalley since 2020 (whoops). I knew I wanted to read it soon since I would like to have all of my previously requested books read by the end of the year. I already started listening to this a few weeks ago, but life got so crazy busy that I didn’t make it further than 11%. I still have it downloaded on my Libby app, so I figured since I am not very far into it, I would count it for this challenge!
These are the seven books I would like to finish reading next week! If anyone would like to join in on the challenge, DM me on Instagram (@novelisticpages)!
