The end of the school year is rapidly approaching and I have been feeling a little more stress than usual! I like to keep myself busy (it is a blessing and a curse), but photography, volleyball, teaching, and grad school has been taking a toll on me. I might take a break from weekly updates for a couple weeks depending on how I’m feeling, especially since I have a feeling my reading will be slowing down very quickly.
In April, I also want to participate in Camp NaNoWriMo and work on my first novel (not much information yet besides it’s a contemporary romance!). I am hoping to at least get close to finishing my first draft, so that will be where most of my free time will be going. Anyways, enough about my busy life, here is my WWW Wednesday update! π
I am excited to see everyone’s posts this week – be sure to let me know if you completed this tag as well! Also, a huge thank you to Sam @ Taking on a World of Words for hosting this weekly meme.
I started Love on the Brain yesterday! I am reading the physical copy at home, but I also have the audiobook for when I am getting ready for work. I was in the mood for a predicatable romance and it is fulfilling that need!! I am about 45% done and things are finally moving at a pace I enjoy. I was having the same issue I had with The Love Hypothesis–the slow burn was just a bit too slow! But not that things are picking up, I have high hopes for this one.
I am FINALLY reading The Nightingale! I am only a few chapters in so far, so I don’t really have any thoughts or feelings yet. Now the real question: Will I finish this book before our book club meeting next week?! I guess we’ll see..
Ok. I read it. Caraval was…something. I cannot really decide how I feel about the book as a whole because I was SO annoyed by the ending. I usually can ignore instalove in YA and not be too affected by it, but with everything else that happened by the end of this book, I did NOT get the relationship between Scarlett and Julian at all. I also did not enjoy Scarlett as our MC. Her thoughts were often “AHHH I need to find my sister…. Oh but this boy is so cute…..Ugh but I hate him because he has a terrible attitude…But omg he’s cute…BUT WAIT, MY SISTER.” I wish I was being dramatic, but this is honestly how it felt while reading. I asked TikTok and they said that I should continue because book 2 is much better so I think I am still going to continue the series. Hopefully I don’t regret it.

I don’t even know what this was?? I honestly was enjoying the chaos and weirdness. Half the time I had NO idea what was happening but I was just happy to be there! That was until an incident in the end happened. Looking at other reviews, the incident does not seem to bother others as much as it did me, but spoilers ahead for anyone interested! There is a scene where Gerald is trapped in Slackbot’s system as Slackbot and he is messaging his coworker who has been taking care of his body in the real world (feeding it, cleaning it, etc.). At this point in the story, Gerald’s body has been possessed by Slackbot (crazy, I know – but I was vibing!). Gerald’s coworker than drops the news: He has moved Gerald into his apartment (bc rent) and he had sex with Gerald’s body when it was possessed by Slackbot….Um WHAT????? AND HE KNEW THAT GERALD WAS POSSESSED. LIKE GROSS??? It felt a little too wrong for me and I had a hard time enjoying the story after this scene. Especially because they end up together in the end (Gerald and the friend, not Slackbot and the friend). I just cannot fatham being okay with that. Idk maybe I’m dramatic, but it ruined it for me.

DNF this week: Call Me By My Name
This week, I will be focusing on finishing The Nightingale since book club is next week (I run the book club so I try my best to read all of the books we choose). Besides that, I may try the second Caraval later this week! We’ll see how busy my weekend gets! π
My next TBR jar pick is Crier’s Mooon so I will also be picking that book up in the next couple weeks as well!
I would love to know what you are currently reading at this moment! Leave a comment below π Until next time, xx
