Happy Wednesday, everyone!
It has been a long time since I have updated you guys on what I have been reading!! I am finally caught up after drowning in work, and I have been trying to carve out more time for reading. I have a month before the end-of-school-year craziness hits, so I want to get more reading done in March.
I also decided to participate in mARCh (ARC March) to try to minimize the amount of e-ARCs I need to finish. After I got my backlist down to seven a few years ago, I have managed to get it back up to 23. 🤦🏻♀️ Maybe one day I’ll learn my lesson.
Anyways, here are my What I’m Currently Reading, What I Recently Finished, and What I Plan on Reading Next.
I am excited to see everyone’s posts this week – be sure to let me know if you completed this tag as well! Also, a huge thank you to Sam @ Taking on a World of Words for hosting this weekly meme.

49% – I am currently rereading this short story collection from Ray Bradbury because I am teaching it to my sophomores. It has been four-ish years since I last taught it, so I really needed a refresher.
I am actually enjoying the collection much more the second time around. The first time I read it in such a rush since I was also needing to lesson plan/make materials, but now that I have a base, I can go much slower and actually annotate my copy.

43% – I am slowly making my way through this companion to A Study in Drowning. I do like being back in the world and seeing all the letters/materials the characters were writing. I also enjoy the extra snippets we get of Angharad, the book Effy was obsessed with in the novels.
However, I have a hard time reading this for long periods, so it is taking me much longer to finish. The little snippets are fun to read, but without a central story, it is not something I keep gravitating towards.

20% – I just started the audiobook of Trad Wife this morning on my way to work, so I haven’t gotten very far. I listened to a little more over lunch, and it has definitely grabbed my attention. I am a little hesitant with this story, as the idea of a “trad-wife” isn’t necessarily my cup of tea, and I imagine the main character would be insufferable. But thankfully, I haven’t minded Camille at all.
The beginning has really set up the typical “female rage because my husband actually sucks, and also, I’m a cannibal” horror plotline I’ve seen a lot lately, so I am hoping that there is something that makes it different. It seems to be laying out commentary on female expectations, especially on social media, but at this point, I’m not sold on the execution.

A re-read. I still absolutely loved this story. Six of Crows was one of my favorite books I read almost 6 years ago, and I consider it one of my favorite reads of all time. But, I have a terrible time finishing series, so I never picked up Crooked Kingdom (the shame!!).
I am FINALLY going to read book two, but I wanted to re-read SoC first, and man, I still love the characters and story as much as I did the first time I read it. This book will stay with me forever.
5 stars

Another re-read. I am trying to finish yet another series (the Briar U series, in this case), so I recently re-read books one and two. I never read book three, but I probably won’t get to it until April, especially since I already have Heated Rivalry on my TBR this month, and I can only do so much hockey romance!
I definitely didn’t enjoy this one as much as I did the first time around, but it still was a quick and easy read. I never expect groundbreaking material from Elle Kennedy, but it is a good way to distract myself.
3.5 stars

I had really high hopes for this one, and while I enjoyed it overall, it didn’t hit as much as I wanted it to. I think my biggest issue was the simplistic writing style. It took me out of the story a lot, especially when reading about more serious topics. I also wish we had gotten a little more from all the characters, not just the narrator. Overall, it felt too rushed, and I would’ve loved even more story.

My first pick for mARCh. The release date is March 17, so I want to prioritize this one right away.

I already have this ready to go for when I do silent reading with my students. We read for about 20 minutes during a class period, but next week I get a little more time since I have over 50% of my students away for music festivals. I am sure this will be taken outside of my classroom as I get further into the book!
I would love to know what you are currently reading! Leave a comment below 🙂 Until next time, xx
