Happy Tuesday everyone!
Today’s Top 10 Tuesday post is all about my 2025 Reading Goals! I love goal-setting, even for something that is a hobby for me. I have a lot for this week’s post, so I’ll cut the intro and get straight into it!
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Artsy Reader.
1. Read 80 books
Every year, I set my reading goal to 80 books and this year is no different. After I read 96 books in 2024, I have my own personal goal of hitting 100 books, but if I don’t make it to 100, I won’t be too upset.
I still feel as though 80 books is a great goal for me. I have a lot of 2025 releases I am excited for (it truly feels like the year where all of my favorite authors are releasing a book). However, I do want to focus more on my owned books in 2024 too.
2. Read or Unhaul My BOTM Backlist
As of now, at the beginning of 2025, I have 23 books on my shelf from Book of the Month that I have not read. Because most of these 23 books are from before 2022, I made the decision to unhaul whatever books I do not finish by the end of the year. These books come from when I used my BOTM every month, regardless of how excited I was for the books. This has led to a lot of BOTM books that I haven’t even touched since they’ve been placed on my bookshelf.
Since then, I have become a lot more picky with my choices, and I often skip the month if I don’t see anything I am truly excited to read. Hopefully, this leads to me avoiding this problem in the future!

3. Get My Unread TBR Percentage Down to 45%.
Last year, my goal for decreasing my unread TBR ended up being way too much for me. Because of that, I decided to readjust my goal for this year. As of right now, I have 204 unread books on my bookshelves. While the number of books I own will most definitely change as the year progresses, as of right now, I would need to read 27 books to reach my goal of 45%. This feels a lot more attainable to me, especially since I have been averaging 40 books from my physical TBR every year.
4. Get Netgalley Ratio to 90%.
I am starting the year with 19 books to read and review from Netgalley. This is a major improvement from last year, especially since seven of the books haven’t released yet! Last year, I made some major progress with Netgalley by reviewing over 30 books.
For the first time ever, I am finally have a review ratio of 80%. While this is the recommended ratio, I would like to get it even higher so that I have more leeway when requesting new books. By the end of 2025, I would like to have my ratio above 90%, as well as have the 6 books from 2020-2022 reviewed.

5. Read 10 Indie Books
Last year, I read seven independently published books. Out of the seven, five of them were three or more stars, and two were four star reads. Because of the success I had last year, I thought it would be a fun goal to attempt to read 10 books this year. Kindle Unlimited has a TON of books from indie authors, which would also help with my next reading goal….
6. Read 2 Kindle Unlimited Books A Month
I have had Kindle Unlimited for a few years now, and the amount of books I read from KU in that first year is embarrassing. Since then, I have started reading from my Kindle way more, but I still do not utilize my subscription as much as I would like to. To make it feel worth the subscription, I would like to read two Kindle Unlimited books every month. If I do not accomplish this, I might have to reanalyze if KU is for me.
7. Post on My Blog at Least 4 Times a Month
Not me failing this goal last year, but putting it right back on my 2025 list. I did decrease it by one (four posts instead of five), but I do still want to make this blog a priority for me.
With the new year, I need to remind myself that four posts a month is okay, and I don’t need to burn myself out from doing something that is supposed to be fun for me. Yes, I get the opportunity to read ARCS, but I do not get paid for running this blog. I want this blog to continue to be a fun experience for me where I get to talk about books.
8. Have 35 or less ongoing series
Last year, I finally made a spreadsheet of all book series I have read or are currently in the middle of. And wow, I was flabbergasted by the number.

Currently, I am in the middle of 44 series, but only two of those series are ones I am up to date with. That is INSANE to me.
Since the number is so high, I decided to make one of my reading goals for 2025 to be for book series. I am sure I will start some series throughout the year–and I don’t want to completely overwhelm myself–so I decided that my goal would be to only have 35 ongoing series by the end of the year.
Looking at the series on my list, I have quite a few of series where I am only one book behind from being caught up or finished, so I will likely be prioritizing those books this year .
9. Read 9 Book Recs From Students
Another goal I like to include in some way is to read book recommendations from my high school students. Not only does it get my students excited when they see me reading a book they recommended, but it also gives me the opportunity to read more YA books that I can maybe recommend to other students!
10. Read From at Least 40 New-To-Me Authors
My last goal is one that is always the easiest for me to hit: read from 40 authors I’ve never read from before. I usually aim for 30 but after reading from 60 new authors last year, I thought that 40 authors could still be a challenge. I have a lot of favorite authors releasing books this year, so I didn’t want to make the number too high.
And that’s it! This is my favorite post to make at the beginning of the year because it really allows me to get into a positive mindset for reading! It also gives me something to look back on when I want to check in with my goals!
If you are still with me, be sure to answer the question of the day in the comments below!
QOTD: What is the number one reading goal you have made for yourself this year?
Until next time, xx

Oh, we read a very similar amount of books last year! I’m also wanting to read books off my own shelves and I miss my Netgalley 80%, I had it but then promptly requested a bunch more and lost my badge 😆haha It’s not a goal a set for myself but I really do need to get it back. Also, I love that you read books that your students recommend to you ❤
Good luck with all of your goals and happy reading!

I love how quantifiable your goals are this year. I hope to read more for enjoyment but also to post more reviews of what I read. I also want to read more nonfiction and more books by Jewish authors this year. But I haven’t quantified those goals. I appreciate your BOTM goal – I have a stack of books I haven’t read that I got from book of the month clubs. I just don’t read most of them. I should get rid of them by the end of the year if I haven’t gotten to them.
I definitely got into the habit of buying books just for the sake of buying books 😅 Thanks for stopping by!!
I love that you want to read the books your students recommend to you. That’s such a great way to connect with them and keep up with what’s popular in the YA world. Good luck with all your goals!
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!
