Happy Monday everyone! This week is going to be a busy one, so I am starting off the week strong with some lesson planning for school! I am coaching two volleyball games this week and will be celebrating a friend’s birthday on Thursday/Friday, so I am trying to get ahead now! I decided to take a little break to post my Goodreads Monday for this week!
I decided that I will start randomly generating the number of the book I choose for Goodreads Monday. All of the books I choose are found under my to-be-read shelf on Goodreads. This week, I landed on House of Roots and Ruin by Erin A. Craig.
Goodreads Monday allows you to post about what books are on your “to read” lists, the progress you have made on your current books and reading challenge, and any other Goodreads news! To participate, choose a random book from your TBR and show it off. It is hosted by Budget Tales Book Blog.
A Book on My TBR
House of Roots and Ruin by Erin A. Craig

In a manor by the sea, one sister is still cursed.
Despite dreams of adventures far beyond the Salann shores, seventeen-year-old Verity Thaumas has remained at her family’s estate, Highmoor, with her older sister Camille, while their sisters have scattered across Arcannia.
When their sister Mercy sends word that the Duchess of Bloem—wife of a celebrated botanist—is interested in having Verity paint a portrait of her son, Alexander, Verity jumps at the chance, but Camille won’t allow it. Forced to reveal the secret she’s kept for years, Camille tells Verity the truth one day: Verity is still seeing ghosts, she just doesn’t know it.
Stunned, Verity flees Highmoor that night and—with nowhere else to turn—makes her way to Bloem. At first, she is captivated by the lush, luxurious landscape and is quickly drawn to charming, witty, and impossibly handsome Alexander Laurent. And soon, to her surprise, a romance . . . blossoms.
But it’s not long before Verity is plagued with nightmares, and the darker side of Bloem begins to show through its sickly-sweet facade. . . .
I was actually excited to see this book pop up because I had completely forgotten about it!! I read Book 1, House of Salt and Sorrows, almost four years ago, and I LOVED it. Book 2 wasn’t published for four years after Book 1, so I completely forgot about continuing the series.
I gave House of Salt and Sorrows five stars, but I will definitely be rereading it before I continue. I don’t remember anything about it, only that I loved it!
Currently Reading
Bunny – Since yesterday’s Sunday Post, I have made a lot of progress on Bunny. I am currently 58% of the way through the book, and it is getting WEIRD. I love it.
The Book Thief – After some crazy reading today, I am now 83% done with The Book Thief. I am reading this one slowly since I am teaching it to my high school Sophomores. I was hoping to have it done by this week, but state testing has gotten in my way 😅
Reading Challenge Progress

And that’s it for this week’s Goodreads Monday! Even though my weeks have been a little crazy, it is nice to see that I am still making progress on my reading goals!
Have you read any of the books in the Sisters of the Salt series? What were your thoughts?
Until next time, xx
