Maren Moore is an indie author who was new to me this year. The first book in the series, Homerun Proposal, caught my eye on Kindle Unlimited a while ago, and I finally borrowed it earlier this month. I was OBSESSED. It was my first baseball romance, and I had such a good time.
When I saw on Instagram that digital ARC were going out for Book 2, Catching Feelings, I knew I had to put a request in. I was so happy when I saw I was approved for the ARC. I have quite a few thoughts, so let’s get into it!
Catching Feelings can already be purchased online or borrowed on Kindle Unlimited.

Reese Landry is Orleans University’s arrogant, All-Star catcher. And I’m the one girl he can’t seem to catch. If anything, it only makes him want me more.
He’s disgustingly rich, stupidly charming, and everyone loves him. Except me.
But then life throws me the ultimate curveball: He’s my new temporary roomie. I thought it was going to be easy, keeping him at a distance. Turns out, I was wrong.
He’s nothing like the cocky, rich playboy that I thought he was. I told myself one more time wouldn’t hurt. We promised to keep things casual, no strings attached. But soon lines blur, and he somehow becomes my only safe space to land.
And now, we’re catching feelings.
Spicy rating: 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶
The Tropes:
- black cat X cinnamon roll
- and they were roommates
- forced proximity
- grief rep
- he falls first

Catching Feelings follows two characters–Reese and Viv–who were both introduced in the first book in the series, Homerun Proposal. I was excited to learn more about Viv, especially since she was such a strong friend to Hallie in the first book.
Pros
- I think the strongest part of this book was the spicy scenes. Right away, the book starts off strong with a first-chapter spicy scene and WOW. It blew me away.
“I wish I didn’t know what she tasted like, or the little sounds she makes when she’s about to come, or how it felt to sink inside of her and lose myself.”
- Like are you kidding me?!?!? This made me literally swoon out loud. There is no doubt about it–Maren Moore can write a spicy scene.
- Reese was my favorite character by far. He was sweet, caring, and HOT (iykyk). He is honestly the reason I kept reading this book. Maybe I have a soft spot for rich baseball players who spoil their girlfriends, but I was in love with Reese the entire time.
Cons
- I think this is becoming one of my least favorite part of romance books, but cheesy nicknames?? I’m sorry, but I could not help but cringe every time I read the words “Sweet Tart.” Maybe once or twice, but when it comes up repeatedly throughout a book, I can’t.
- This is not necessarily a con as it is a major letdown. I did not like the development of Viv in this book. I think her background and struggles could have made her a very strong character, but I never really felt like she learned from her life or even properly grappled with everything that happened to her. Part of this is because of the writing for her character. Paragraphs of dialogue does not mean a character is processing something…there needs to be more!
- Which brings me to my last con: the dialogue. Whenever Viv and Reece talked to each other about something important, it was mostly just dialogue. It felt very one-dimensional because it was hard to imagine how the two characters were interacting.
Overall Thoughts
While I really enjoyed book one in the series, book two fell short for me. I didn’t feel any connection to the characters, and if the spicy scenes were taken out, I don’t think I would have enjoyed most of it. It really breaks my heart since I loved book one so much, but I will not give up! I definitely plan on reading more by Maren Moore in the future.
After seeing other reviews, I think I am definitely in the minority here. I would recommend you give the book a chance if you are into any of the tropes listed above. However, I highly recommend you read book one, Homerun Proposal.
Final Rating: 2.25 stars
