How is it already April!? This year has been speeding by, and I have barely had time to process. Last month, I spent a majority of my free time planning a trip for my high school Seniors. They were unable to go on their 8th grade field trip due to Covid, so they were able to spend their funds on another trip. The trip was last week, and while I am relieved to finally be done with it, I will always remember the amazing time I had with my chaperones and students!
I am the Senior advisor in my high school, so I have already spent a lot of brain power thinking of graduation. I also am an English teacher, so I am also spending a lot of time on grading and lesson planning! For me, April is an insanely busy time of year, which means that I will likely pick up quite a few books (yay for escapism!).
While I have a lot of books on my physical TBR (I am currently in the process of recounting, but I know it’s over 150 books), I still like to keep an eye out for upcoming releases. Every month, I choose 6-8 books that I am interested in reading. These books usually become a priority for me, and I have already pre-ordered a few for April (although I try to read as many as I can through Libby or my local library too).
April is bringing quite a few books that have been on my radar for a while, so let’s get into them!
Funny Story – Emily Henry | April 23, 2024

I have read all of Emily Henry’s books at this point, and she has basically become an auto-buy author for me. I have not rated an Emily Henry book less than 3 stars (People We Meet on Vacation has been my least favorite so far), and I am hoping the trend continues. Book Lovers will be a hard one to beat, but I have a feeling I will enjoy it regardless.
Happy Medium – Sarah Adler | April 30, 2024

I have never read a Sarah Adler book before, but the concept of this book is intriguing to me! I love witchy/supernatural books, and I have started to read more romance books in this sub-genre. I hope I can pick this one up sometime in the near future!
She’s Not Sorry – Mary Kubica | April 2, 2024

I recently read Local Woman Missing by Mary Kubica, and it was the first thriller I really got into in a long time. I love the concept of a nurse/patient thriller, so I have high expectations for this one!
The Familiar – Leigh Bardugo | April 9, 2024

Honestly, I rarely need an excuse to pick up a Leigh Bardugo book. She is one of my favorite authors of all-time, and while I am not as excited as usual for this release, I still want to read it! I think the only part that is throwing me off is the fact that it is historical fiction, which is my least favorite genre. But, I am hoping the fantasy elements will overshadow this fact.
Here We Go Again – Alison Cochrun | April 2, 2024

I read a review that describes this book as “The romance from RWRB meets a friendly, gay A Man Called Ove” and that was all it took for me to want to read it. I also LOVE a good road-trip story.
Late Bloomer by Mazey Eddings | April 16, 2024

First of all, the cover?? STUNNING. I have seen this book around EVERYWHERE, and after getting denied a request from Netgalley, the need for me to read this book has only intensified. I haven’t read enough queer romances lately, and this one is at the top of my list!
The Reappearance of Rachel Price – Holly Jackson | April 2, 2024

I have recently read A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, and while I haven’t picked up books two and three in the series yet (my students haven’t returned them to my classroom library yet 🥺) , I still really enjoyed book one! I love picking up YA mysteries, especially because it seems to be a lot of my students favorite genres.
Truly, Madly, Deeply – Alexandria Bellefleur | April 30, 2024

I read Written in the Stars from this author almost four years ago, and I haven’t stopped thinking about it. I continued with the three book series, but I haven’t read anything else from the author. Truly, Madly, Deeply has captured my attention, and this book is probably ranked the highest of my most anticipated books! I have even already pre-ordered it!
And there you go–my most anticipated books of April!! I am hoping that since the field trip I am taking my seniors on will be done this week that I will have a little more time to relax in April. I love reading for an escape, but I miss reading just to relax!
What is on your April TBR? Let me know in the comments!
Until next time xx
